5 Challenges in Modern Offices and Glide’s Simple Solutions
As the workplace becomes a hub for teamwork and personal interaction, the walls have started coming down to create spaces that are complementary and useful to the team as a whole. That means comfortable, spacious layouts and collaborative hubs in convenient spaces.
But space in the modern office comes at a premium. With high price points on the team-oriented, spacious office of the future, designers are being asked to add more function into less space.
With a voice in the interior design industry, Clarus™ is asking the hard questions – what are the fallbacks of the new office design? How can designers creatively engineer spaces for group work with fewer walls and more brainstorming potential?
Clarus’ newest product, Glide™, was created by designers for designers, challenged by the open-office orientation. Glide functions as a fully integrated, sliding glassboard system with completely concealed hardware that allows sliding glass panels to smoothly move across the face of fixed, wall-mounted panels.
Take a look at some of Glide’s solutions right off the bat:
1. Increased writing surface in a smaller wall space. Glide’s unprecedented engineering allows interior designers to encourage collaboration with more writing surface. Glide functions within two planes – one made up of stationary, wall-mounted glassboards below, and the other made up of sliding glassboard panels above. This three-dimensional communication tool provides two layers of writing surface in one product.
2. Take down walls to create an open office. As working together becomes the norm, the office walls and quarantined cubicles are coming down. With decreased wall space, designers inevitably lose some of their creative canvas. Glide consolidates hundreds of writable square feet into a minimal, concise design – allowing walls to come down while also adding tons of brainstorming surface.
3. Conceal proprietary information from view. When you have an open office, there’s always a chance that visitors will catch a glimpse of your brainstorming secrets. When it comes to keeping proprietary and confidential information hidden, Glide’s got it covered – literally. Even without secrets on the board, covering up writing gives the office a clean, polished look. With movable, sliding glassboard panels mounted above stationary panels, Glide is the perfect way to hide information from sight.
4. Keep ideas flowing without stopping to erase. When teams begin brainstorming, ideas flow freely and quickly, eventually requiring the team to erase before the ideas come to fruition. But that’s not the case with Glide. When one board fills up with great ideas, there’s an empty panel right below – as easy as turning the page, roll the glassboard away to reveal a fresh writing surface below. Glide allows teams to brainstorm and collaborate without stopping to erase.
5. Eliminate the eyesore of stale, stained writing surfaces. Traditional whiteboards are made of melamine, PET, or a composite of materials – all of which are ultra-porous. From ink, to germs, and residue, whiteboards will absorb it all as deep, permanent stains. Glide is made of annealed, low-iron glass – a non-porous material. Glass doesn’t have pores, so whether you put permanent ink on its surface or douse it in germs – it will always come clean. Decades down the road, Glide’s surface will still be spotless.
Whether you’re designing from the ground-up or remodeling your current space, Glide’s glass surface creates a modern, collaboration-friendly workspace. What can you do with writable surface in your workspace?
